I love to observe the stages of its growth each spring, from planting to knee high, then waist high, then in summer growing to heights taller than the farmers who planted it, crowding out buildings and painting the landscape deep, solid green. - LW

Clearing 5-vehicle collision well organized

The 5-vehicle collision at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Bypass and Burkesville Street/Road, involved more vehicles than any previous accident. Thanks to an extraordinarily well coordinated effort, the injured were quickly evacuated, and the scene was clear by 11:55amCT, according to Columbia Police Chief Jason Cross.
