For the second time in less than five days, a serious wreck has happened at the intersection of the Veterans Memorial Bypass and Burkesville Street/Road in Columbia. First reports indicate that it is a two-vehicle accident with extraction required from one vehicle. The accident occurred at around 1pmCT, today, Tuesday, September 4, according to Columbia Police Chief Jason Cross. The collision caused outrage among accident weary first responders and Adair County Judge Executive Mike Stephens, who was one of the earliest on the scene. HGR Fall Festival 2018 - Landon Marcum, Bonner, fixes door 2018-09-04 - Homeplace on Green River, 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by George Kolbenschlag, Homeplace on Green River. Landon Marcum, a Bonner Scholarship student from Owensboro, worked to fix this door so it would close as one of several things he has done at Homeplace on Green River this week to help prepare for the Homeplace Fall Heritage Festival this Saturday. The Bonner Scholars receive financial aid and are required to do at least 280 hours of community service each year. Marcum is one of two Bonner Scholars who have chosen Homeplace to do their service. The Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation provides financial support to select students at one of its member colleges in exchange for community service.
