Revisit Knifley - this picture is of Main Street looking east 2018-09-06 - Downtown Knifley, KY before the lake - Photo from Donald Knifley Photo Collection. First printed in 2006 showing Knifley, Adair CO, KY. This is a picture of Main Street, looking east in Knifley, taken around the mid-1950s to early 1960s, before the town was torn down and moved because the Corps of Engineers took the old town to make way for Green River Lake. On the right, the Texaco gas pump is in front of the Luke and Marie Knifley Restaurant. On right is two story Knifley Post Office, unidentified metal sided building, the KY 551 from Columbia, then the brick building which house the Jack Hovious Store, then a vacant lot is where barber shop was, then the L.R. Steve Pescosolido, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, asked for guidance for the gathering at the forum held beside the most dangerous intersection in Adair County, and to watch over Adair County Judge Executive Michael Lee Stephens, who was overcome by the heat and left the gathering he organized with the help of an assistant. In front are, from left, Tony Bragg, Magistrate Daryl Flatt, (District 2) Columbia Police Chief Jason Cross, Adair-Taylor Kentucky State Representative Bam Carney, (Rev. Pescosolido) and Adair County Circuit Court Clerk Dennis Loy. Judge Stephens was reported to have just needed to get out of the heat and is doing fine. The forum, thanks to knowledge of the history of the road from Columbia Fire Chief Mike Glasgow, Chief Cross, Daryl Flatt and others was one of the most effective yet. Rep.
