Yesterday these beams were on the ground across Pettit's Fork of Russell Creek, and Adair County Road Foreman Terry Corbin announced at the Adair County Fiscal Court meeting last night, Tuesday, September 11, 2018, that the work would begin "in the morning." News spotter Charles Marshburn let us know this morning that the first beam was being placed. At the end of the day all seven of the huge beams were in place. - EW. One special touch to the decorations at the Old Edmonton School Reunion were bricks from the Old School (now torn down). Freeda Reece had secured bricks from the owner and used them and other decorations as centerpieces. When we announced that these bricks could be taken, I was afraid a brawl might break out! Squarecrows have given us lasting memories: Pumpkin Butt 2018-09-12 - Historic Adair County Courthouse, 500 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo from HOSA, Adair County High School. This encore photo generated more laughter than anything in recent memory. The award-winning Squarecrow referred to as 'Pumpkin-Butt' put smiles on the faces of hundreds of visitors of all ages to the historic Adair County Public Square in October 2015. Pumpkin-Butt was aimed, strategically - innocently or by design - into the faces of oncoming traffic -- and it got howls of laughter. The creative group entering this nurse/patient pumpkin duo was HOSA – Future Health Professionals at Adair County High School. It's Squarecrow time again. As the LWC Malvina Farkle Day of Service began on the public square, volunteers were directed to projects needed at the historic Adair County Courthouse.
