Black Walnuts are a staple for squirrels during the winter months. Squirrels will sometimes carry walnuts, one at a time, hundreds of yards and hide them in choice locations for lean times. As you can see this enterprising Walnut transporter (near center of photo) has found a safe way to cross Burkesville Street which is one of the busiest streets in Downtown Columbia. The closest Black Walnut from whence this Top of the Line Transporter hailed is in the yard of the Field House according to my personal observation.
