Jacob Beckley, Lindsey Wilson College Student Government Association (SGA) President, asked the Columbia City Council for a crosswalk between the campus and residential area on Young Street which student leaders have called for in recent years to improve student safety. He said it remains a top priority for students having to cross the busy connector Street from Fairground to Jamestown Street. Because Young Street is a state road, a crosswalk has to come from the state, however, he appealed for help in getting connected with the right people. Mayor Hardwick invited him to come back to City Hall during business hours for a conference call so that a meeting on this subject can be held by phone.
