Southside Thanksgiving

Felicia Wingler joined her son Braxton for the annual Thanksgiving lunch at Southside Elementary in Shelbyville, KY, on Friday. The meal had been planned for Thursday, but was postponed when yesterday's ice storms caused a morning power outage at the school. Braxton is the grandson of Alice Wingler of Adair County.

OCC tops 2000 boxes with ACMS donation

These students from the Adair County Middle School prepared their own individual OCC shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child.

Pictured are Jayden Montgomery, Gavin Brockman, Panasha Gecheo, Reagan Long, Kennedy Ray, Hailey Rowe, Piper Kemp, Jodie Wethington, and Jazlyn Kemp. Boxes prepared by the middle school students pushed the totals to this point to more than 2000 OCC boxes.

Army Pvt. Robert J. Sipes, Jr., 19, died on Nov. 30, 1950. His remains have just been positively identified and are in the process of being returned to his family in Irvington, after nearly 68 years.

Special animation project unveiled at school board meeting

At Thursday night's School Board meeting, ACES art teacher Rachel Bardin introduced two Adair County Elementary School fifth graders who have created an animation project that will be shown at the school's Veterans event on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 12:30pmCT. Gabby Kemp, left, and Natalie Bardin, center, explained and showed their accomplishments in the field of animation. Their production received a round of applause from the Board members and audience.
