Each year we have a special service and families are encouraged to bring and place ornaments on the tree in the sanctuary. They also bring canned and non-perishable food items wrapped and placed under the tree. This week those items were taken to J.O.Y. Ministries to distribute to needy families." Note: J.O.Y. Adair County School Family Resource Youth Services Center Coordinators, Debbie Cowan, Paula Garrison and Jaime While accept a generous donation from Ann Marie Austin and Rhonda Loy from the Baby It's Cold Outside Campaign. This collaborative, community wide initiative provides winter coats and shoes for children in Adair County. When in the hometown of my grandchildren recently, I noted they have one now and mentioned this in front of the seven-year-old to which Matilda Anne said, "Yuk!!! Who would eat Dirty Rice?!" I tried to explain about the sausage and spices but there would be no understanding that day and I doubt she'll be tasting any soon. I'll never eat it in future without hearing her words and smiling.
