A positive note to City Council with kisses

2019-06-04 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Among the papers awaiting City Council Members at the June 3, 2019 meeting was a bright yellow page with a thank you message - and to make sure it got read, there were chocolate kisses affixed by each point. The note read, "How sweet it was... to welcome interested folks to the open house at the Trabue-Russell House May 18 & 19. Thank you for visiting Columbia's historic house during Tour 120. Makes the many volunteer hours I have spent cleaning and putting up displays valued. Thanks! Vonnie K."

Prayers requested for Greyson McKinney

2019-06-04 - Taylor County, KY - Photo by Joan C. McKinney.
Greyson McKinney has been a member of the Stan and Joan McKinney household in Campbellsville for a little over a decade but he is very sick. Prayers are requested. This photo was made when Greyson was just a year or so old, a climber, a book lover, and, in general, a perfect fit in the family.

Mock Orange on Monroe Street, Columbia

2019-06-03 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Sweet Mock Orange (the English Dogwood, Philadelphus Coronarius) gives an amazing fragrance. This one is in full bloom on Monroe Street in Columbia.

Billy Joe Fudge wrote to offer a correction. He said this is more likely a Kousa Dogwood which is actually a tree, while Sweet Mock Orange or English Dogwood is actually a small woody shrub. I'm always grateful to ColumbiaMagazine.com readers and contributors who help keep the record straight. - LW

Now raising bunnies at Pampered Angus Ranch

2019-06-03 - Greater Bliss, KY - Photo by Vicky Pike.
Miss Vicky writes, "This morning while changing a bolt or two out I stepped around to get another wrench and nearly stepped on this little fellow. He was right in the gravel beside the truck. I'd been seeing a pretty large bunny in the yard for sometime. Guess it belongs to her. I just took a picture and moved along. I didn't disturb the little fellow. Hoss Cartwright, the big yellow cat, has been terribly interested in the goings on out the front window lately. I guess he had taken up bunny watching. We won't guess what's on his mind."
