2019-06-06 - Campus of Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
The gospel musical play Smoke on the Mountain is on for the second time this evening at 7pmCT and I can heartily recommend it, especially Hannah Peck, center, who will keep you laughing. The play is directed by Artistic Director of TheatreFest! Robert Brock, with music direction by Associate Artistic Director of TheatreFest! Jeremy Cloyd, with Kelvin Bailey, Renee Daffron, Sydney Shearer, Tyler Harting, Sharon Archey, Hannah Peck and Thomas Alvey. Performance will start at 7pmCT in V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columbia, KY. For tickets contact Robert Brock at brockr@lindsey.edu or call 270-384-8044. Smoke on the Mountain is set on a Saturday night in June 1938 in the sanctuary of the Mount Pleasant Church in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. The Sanders Family Singers, led by the dad, Kelvin Bailey, far right, is performing for the first time after a five-year hiatus from the gospel-singing circuit. - LW

The June 2019 City Council meeting included somewhat of a surprise when a council member made a very specific motion after leaving executive session. It was unanimously approved for the mayor to make a proposal to the county for their half of the Jim Blair Center. That proposal has been delivered for Fiscal Court consideration.

Toby, a miniature schnauzer, served as a helping hand for masters Bradley and Ashley Adamson who volunteered to help with paperwork for those that made All Stars. Ashley says he serves as their “third child” behind Graycin and Grant. He was even wearing an official Adair Little League T-shirt.

Aiden Long plays catch at Little League Park

2019-06-04 - Joe Johnson Little League Park, Columbia, KY - Photo by Tiffany Kessler, columbiamagazine.com.
Sometimes the best plays are made off the field. Aiden Long, 7, had finished his little league game playing for the Boston Red Sox. Despite his eye black starting to fade there were still warm temps, energy to burn, and someone willing to play catch.
