Semi overturned and closed Hwy East 80 this morning

Just before 5amCT Emergency Management Director Mike Keltner reported that a semi had overturned in the 3900-4000 Block of Russell Springs Road, Highway East 80 in Adair County and the road was closed. There were no injuries but traffic between Columbia and Russell Springs had delays and roadway closures during the cleanup process.

Summer activities with family in Shelbyville allowed me to observe this moment of sincere communications between my daughter-in-law Amy Waggener and a neighbor's little pet. Amy stopped by ColumbiaMagazine.com for a visit yesterday and then not long afterward, going through photos, I came across this one and thought that was a sign I needed to share it.

History researcher/writer JIM sends this warning from law enforcement printed on the front page of the Adair County News 90 years ago today, July 16, 1929.
"Last Warning. The public has been repeatedly warned against the reckless use of automobiles, speeding, reckless driving, disregarding stop signs and all other traffic regulations in the town of Columbia, Ky.
"This practice has been carried on to such an extent that it has become a menace to the lives and property of the citizens of this community.
"From the date of publication of this notice all ordinances governing traffic in the town of Columbia will be rigidly enforced.
