A positive sight, Courthouse open 2019-08-19 - Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The Community Investment Group met at City Hall this morning with ideas of improvement for the City of Columbia. One of the items mentioned was how good it was to see the historic Courthouse open and active last week when Constables met there. Looking from Greensburg Street, you can see the doors open on the summer day and folks coming out for lunchtime on the Square. We commend the Fiscal Court for placing the Constables office in the building and for making needed repairs to keep the building up. 95th Birthday celebration honors Adair native Stanley Parnell 2019-08-19 - Hardin County, KY - Photo by Cynthia Parnell Collier. Adair County native and WWII Veteran, Stanley Parnell, at left, was recently given a surprise party to celebrate his 95th birthday! He is pictured with his six siblings who range in ages from 81 to 93 and are all going strong. From left are: Jesse Parnell, Del Parnell Westerfield (the only girl!), Willard Parnell, Harmon Parnell, Allan Parnell and Lewis Parnell. Stanley lives in Elizabethtown, KY so the celebration was held there and his out of town children came in from Texas and Paducah. Jesse and Del came in from Indianapolis; Harmon and Lewis from Columbia; Allan and Willard from Louisville. The brothers and their one sister grew up in Sparksville in southern Adair County. KY.
