Just for show

2019-09-15 - Louisville, KY - Photo by Pen.
Lyrics from Fiddler on the Roof jumped to mind upon seeing this staircase, which at first seems to be "just for show." In reality, it grants access to the Louisville Loop Trail and across the levee to the Ohio River, from the back picnic area at Mike Linnig's on Cane Run Road.

The Rock House endures

2019-09-15 - Russell County, KY - Photo by Tiffany Kessler, columbiamagazine.com.
Even when Cumberland River traffic was slowed because highways became available, even when commerce in Creelsboro gradually closed and buildings were lost to ruin, this ancient Rock House continued to draw visitors. One resident decided to restore a building and that inspired more people to come. Last November a committee of local folks determined the town would have its renewal and the first festival took place Saturday, September 14, 2019. ColumbiaMagazine.com is proud to have served in the pre-event promotions to help spread the word. Congratulations to all who worked and all who came. - LW

Festival goers took advantage of the beautiful weather to attend the first annual Creelsboro, KY festival. The restored general store was a main attraction. The hills in the background edge the Cumberland River. This view is at the turn where hayrides went on to the natural arch, the Rock House that gave its name to Rockhouse Bottom.
