The first few SquareCrows have popped up around the Public Square in Columbia, KY and many more will be added. Ellen Zornes, Executive Director of the Columbia Adair Chamber of Commerce reminds everyone that the list has grown to 53 and, as they are built, to please keep them positive and family oriented. Elephant Ear plants wave until after the first frost 2019-10-02 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Even though fall has arrived, it's still hot enough for Elephant Ears to continue flourishing. Soon it will be time for them to disappear for the winter season. After the first frost, stems will be cut to around six inches in height and the plant stored, kept moist and alive, until after the last frost in the spring when it's time to bring them out again. Mystery solved: artwork created by Charles Lemons 2019-10-02 - Columbia - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. ColumbiaMagazine.com readers know their local artists' work as proven by responses to the mystery photo of September 29, 2019 which showed just a few of the characters from this painting. The print with all its fanciful characters was created by Charles Lemons of Adair County, KY. It was purchased in an AC Fire Department fundraiser and framed by Jackie Montgomery at Charles Cole's shop. Charles mentioned that the Lemons painting was done from a picture he'd shared with the artist. Bob Land was first to correctly guess where the characters could be found and knew that it was commissioned by the City of Columbia. Next guesses came from Brandon and Patty.
