City calls special meeting for first reading on annexation
2019-11-11 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Victoria Pike of Miss Vicky\\\\\\\'s Pampered Angus Ranch for ColumbiaMagazine.com. Mayor Pam Hoots called a special City Council meeting November 8, 2019 to announce what she felt was a "win-win agreement on annexation of the New Columbia Pinewood Center" resulting from negotiations with developers of the Center, Mike Neal and Mike Stephens. The first reading of the ordinance was given by City Attorney Derrick Helm at the Friday City Council meeting. In documents prepared and signed by the landowners of Pinewood Center and by the Mayor, The city agrees to annex the 17 acre property and grants the property owners a "five-year real property tax abatement for any and all real property taxes owing to the city as a result of the property becoming territory of the city of Columbia." Mayor Hoots said this tax benefit is the same as had been granted to the local developers of the Sleep Inn on the opposite side of Highway 61 for the first five years. The Pinewood agreement will cover the years 2019 through 2024. The December City Council meeting, 6pmCT Monday, December 2, 2019.
