Thinking of Scotts, Leftwiches, Rays and Sartins 2020-01-25 - Metcalfe County, KY - Photo from Jane Todd. This fuzzy older aerial photo will only have meaning to family and neighbors who lived a couple miles outside Edmonton, KY in the 1930s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s - the Scotts, Leftwiches, Rays, Demumbrums and Strains. The home has since been torn down, but one look takes many of us right straight to the back door where Addie Leftwich or one of her nine children would open the door with a big smile and warm welcome. We don't know who made the photo but it has been a wonderful gift to trigger precious memories. Geniece Leftwich Marcum, the baby of the nine children, put it best when she wrote of this place in her article Down memory lane on the banks of the Little Barren River "...Those were the happiest hours I can recall. The City of Columbia invites everyone to come to the City Park on Fairgrounds Street Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10amCT for a dedication of three handicapped accessible swings made possible by a donation from Stacey Wilson. These swings will be dedicated to the memory of her daughter Cally Paige Mcfall on the one year anniversary of her death. Cally loved children and she loved working with children with special needs.
