Ask us about the 2020 Census!

2020-02-14 - Columbia - Photo by Benisha Johnson from the office of the ACJE.
This group has partnered with the Census Bureau to support the 2020Census. As a partner, we pledged to help folks understand what is needed, with a goal to ensure that our community is accurately represented. Security of information was discussed at length in the Thursday, February 13, 2020 meeting at the Courthouse Annex - basically, filling out the census information is safer than what we put on social media. Pictured are: (front) Gayla Baker, Courtney Karnes, Andrea Waggener, and Ronald Shumard, partnership specialist with the Census Bureau; (middle row) Linda Waggener, Marsha Bennett and Lee Ann Jessee; and (back row) Jeff Neagle and Bridget Compton. (Not pictured, Lisa Gosser from the Lake Cumberland ADD workforce area.) To learn about the upcoming census, visit 2020census.gov or stop by the library or county and city offices, and watch for more information in all the local media. The information can be given over the phone, over the internet or by mail. Only as a last resort will a census taker visit if information is not submitted in one of the other three ways.

Maison Karnes is the Student of the Month

2020-02-14 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Deb Waddell.
Maison Karnes is the STUDENT OF THE MONTH at Adair County Middle School. She is the 14 year old daughter of Rodney and Melissa Karnes. Maison is an 8th grade student at ACMS. She is an honor roll student, a member of the ACHS Choir, an officer in BETA Club and a peer leader in a science classroom.

Maison is an excellent role model for other students as she is always kind to everyone and has a positive attitude with everything that she does. Both adults and peers know they can depend on Maison to give 110% in whatever she set out to do. We are honored to have her as our student of the month and can't wait to see what great things she does in the future.
