It's always nice to see the neighborhood mockingbird, but it was even nicer this weekend to see that the bush that he calls home is already beginning to fill with spring buds.

Lampton Lane being trashed with tossed debris

Steve Coomer writes, "reading about Tommy Nobles removing the snow from Lampton Lane makes me miss my neighbor, he also picked up litter along the road, now I can’t even keep my end of the lane picked up. Heartbreaking!"

Steve invited us to get a photo in passing. This one, taken on this very gray day, still shows the shining garbage on both sides of Lampton Lane, a scenic connector of Hwy W 80 and Hwy 61. - LW

Scam investigated, business is cleared by AG Office

LaDonna Koebel is the Executive Director of the Office of Senior Protection & Mediation within the Office of Attorney General Daniel Cameron. She received notice of a possible scam reported to ColumbiaMagazine.com and did a thorough investigation. Her findings regarding a sewer line protection mail offer from American Water Resources, in this case, resulted in news that the mailer was from a legitimate company that does business in 43 states.

Jamie Bryant chosen as Educator of the Month

Congratulations to Mr. Jamie Bryant who was awarded Educator of the Month by the Adair County Education Association an affiliate of KEA. He serves as the director of the Indian Academy at Adair County High School. He works with students who need an alternative setting to normal class work. Mr. Bryant is also the Defensive Coordinator for the football team and is head coach of the track team. During his career he has also been a BETA Club sponsor and FCA sponsor. He earned both his bachelor's degree and masters degree from Campbellsville University in Secondary Education with an emphasis in social studies. He also received his Rank One from WKU in secondary guidance. A favorite quote of his is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Phillipians 4:13.

A peaceful group

This group observed, but didn't protest a quick photo. Their soft coats and dry bed of hay in the morning sunshine seemed to meet their needs and provide peace and satisfaction.

ACHS Football Coach Van Isaac asks for help for team

Coach Van Isaac came before the Adair County School Board at the Thursday, February 20, 2020 meeting with an appeal for the Football Team. In his request for funds, he asked for a few key pieces of equipment that he said would make the team more competitive. He asked for funds for an Endzone camera, Hudl Sideline and Headsets to help support what he called "one of the best groups in recent memory."

Daffodil Watch 2020: blooming fence row

Daffodils are making this February more colorful. Warmer temps are bringing them out in force as in this fencerow patch on Highway 704 outside of Columbia.
