ACES: Congratulations, Hannah Kotter!

Hannah Kotter, a 5th grade student at Adair County Elementary School, set the school's record (maybe even school district) on March 4, 2020, with a total of 1,000 Accelerated Reading points thus far for the school year. Great job Hannah!

Call 270-378-CALY to help police fight illegal drug sales

Columbia Police Chief Jason Cross introduced a new drug Tip Line, 270-378-CALY (2259), funded in memory of Cally McFall by her mother Stacey Hatcher Wilson. Stacey and her sister Julie were present for the introduction. Cross said that she reached out to the CPD with the idea for a special drug tip line and they've been able to secure it. Officer Evan Burton will man the line. Clicking on Cally's name (in bold above) takes you to more details and also gives information for families who may be in need of Casey's Law.

Dirty money

The City has a lot of jobs in progress and here is one more - it's time to clean out the fountain on the Public Square. These wishes tossed into the fountain when it was filled are now sitting in the winter pool, dirty money waiting to be picked up and washed off.

Adair FFA leaders visit county government about Ag Tags

Adair County FFA joined County Judge Gale Cowan, front left, and Adair Clerk Lisa Greer, front right, in promoting the "Ag Tag" campaign. Kentucky motorists who buy or renew farm vehicle license plates, or "ag tags," may make a voluntary donation of up to $10 to the Ag Tag Fund. Donations to the Ag Tag Fund are divided equally among Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture for youth development and promotional programs. Half of the 4-H and FFA funds go back to the county where the tag is purchased to support local programming, awards, and scholarships. Birds of Kentucky: Pileated Woodpecker

Pileated woodpeckers have a loud, distinctive call, and are much larger than other Kentucky woodpeckers. All About Birds says that they "drill distinctive rectangular-shaped holes in rotten wood to get at carpenter ants and other insects."
