Construction at the Adair Library
 2020-05-04 - Columbia - Photo by Lee Ann Jessee. The Adair County Public Library Genealogy Collection will soon be in its new home. The department has developed over time to hold one of the largest collections of family history information in the area. It includes family histories, indexes to records, cemetery transcriptions, family history files, and more. COVID-19 Adair: Sunday has zero new cases, deaths to report
 2020-05-03 - Russell County, KY - Photo From the Lake Cumberland District Health Department. 5/3/2020 - Today Adair County has zero new cases or deaths. The remainder of the daily report remains the same as yesterday. From the Lake Cumberland District Health Department, Adair County has had 81 total cases of COVID-19 with 51 being released from isolation and 13 deaths. We have 17 active cases with 14 of those in home or SMNH Isolation and 3 in area hospitals. Please continue the prayers for our community and the residents and staff at Summit Manor.

Poke for dinner Saturday, lived to tell about it
 2020-05-03 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Poke picking was profitable for Johnny Giles each May back in the '70s. We never picked it for sale but when we found it in the yard we always put it on our menu. This batch was picked for Saturday dinner and, whether the old tale of its danger is true or not, I boiled it, poured off the water, boiled it again and poured that water off, and then cooked it with a little salt. I drained it and served it with a dollop of Greek yogurt and a little more salt and salmon. It was delicious. I lived to tell about it and recommend Poke among your spring greens - just boil it a few times.

The Poke Sallet King of Adair County
 1978-05-05 - Knifley, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Johnny Giles of Knifley is the biggest shipper of fresh poke in Adair County, it is generally believed. Giles trucks approximately 150 bushels of poke to the Cincinnati market each May. At $4 per bushel, it gives quite an added income, he says.
