Rocktrumpet staying colorful
2025-10-20 - Central Kentucky - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Beautiful Rocktrumpet, known for its vibrant, trumpet-shaped flowers, is providing color this early fall in pinks, reds, and whites, with glossy, dark green leaves. The vines can climb trellises, fence and porch posts. They also work in hanging baskets, and best of all, they attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

Dr. Gerald Chafin, at right, LWU music professor and Director of Church Relations, was 'key'ed-up' before and after Sunday's Piano Extravaganza! The sounds that filled Slider Hall, especially that of two Steinway pianos being played by four pianists at the same time, kept everyone cheering. With him, from left, were: Jackie Montgomery, business student Xavier Williams and George and Vonnie Kolbenschlag.

Historic courthouse clock looking naked
2025-10-20 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Work has been going on for years to save and restore the historic Adair County courthouse and in recent years it has been coming together nicely, even to the delightful clock chimes. One vandal couldn't stand the progress and gave his time and energy to climbing the steps all the way up to the interior of the clock and steal the hands off the clock. What a waste.

Travel: Sheep Creek Canyon
2025-10-19 - Ashley National Forest, Utah - Photo by Robert Ellis, robertelliswoodworking.com. Robert writes, "This geological area is part of the Ashley National Forest. The desert foliage as well as some of the Aspen trees were displaying nice colors. The canyon itself (which is the main attraction) is around a couple miles long. It's well worth adding to the itinerary if you're heading over to visit the Flaming Gorge Reservoir that's close by."
