Gale Cowan, Adair County Judge Executive, spotted and shared the picture with this comment from Mark Upchurch in Cumberland County, “The things you see on the way home from work. This was just outside of Burkesville on HWY 61 north. Just beyond the new bridge. He/she appeared to be hot … panting to cool.” When Judge Cowan invited me to her site for Fiscal Court activity reports, this discovery prompted a dive into the archives of ColumbiaMagazine.com for the official Columbia Blue Ribbon Bear Board. The business of recycling

She says that from unsorted recyclables to a belt line, to aluminum cans, to shredded bales of paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and milk jugs... recycling is a big business. This picture shows some of the work area where sorting is done.

Robin helps raise funds for children

Four year old Robin put money in the cup to help 'bail out' Ellen Zornes, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, during her time in 'jail' at the Columbia Walmart today to help raise funds for the UK Children's Miracle Network. Volunteer 'inmates' took turns in 'jail' all day today with all 'bail' proceeds going to the Children's Network. The fundraiser was organized by Walmart employee Ashley Fitzpatrick.
