Church is better in person according to Yvonne Marshall who tried hard to attend on the Internet but finds it's just not the same. Her Columbia United Methodist Church has reopened with great care, after thorough cleanings, and about half the members have begun to attend the combined Sunday morning service at 10am, wearing masks and sitting at distances in the pews, to help avoid spreading the Coronavirus/COVID-19. Larry writes, "Since I pass by this place most every day I've watched these puff balls grow in this spot for several years. This year is the biggest fairy ring so far. Notice the greener ring of grass. The mushrooms grow in the outer part in the green ring. These fairy rings have fascinated peoples since ancient times. Finding family roots at old Turner Cemetery 2020-09-08 - deep south in Adair County, KY - Photo from Jeffrey Martin. Scotty Martin, at left, and children Katye and Jeffrey took a Sunday Labor Day weekend road trip to see ancestors in the Turner Cemetery. Jeffrey has been collecting and sharing information about family and the Turner line traces back from his Dad's mother, Eugenia Leftwich Martin, to the original Joe and Nancy Turner who settled in this home when they came west. the home pictured stood between the cemetery and Burns Creek near its confluence with Crocus Creek where it goes under the Melson Ridge Road bridge. The home was cleaned up and the lawn manicured by Grace Turner for a reunion in the 80s before it was burned down by vandals. The picture was taken by Mike Watson who wrote about it in 2015.
