JIM writes, "The 'triple certified I.E.S.' floor lamp offered by the Community Public Service Company for $7.95. In the spring of 1950, Kentucky Utilities bought several of the Public Service's operations, including the one in Columbia. The CPS Co. had succeeded Texas-Louisiana Power on the last day of December 1931 after the latter declared bankruptcy. TRH garden flowers gifted to nursing home 2020-10-31 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Mayor Pamela Hoots. The last of the blossoms from the gardens at Columbia's Trabue Russell House were snipped and tucked into plastic bottle vases for delivery Friday to the nursing home to be made into bright bouquets. The Economy Store, owned by Mr. Sheldon Willock of Campbellsville, was located on the northeast side of the square, next door to the venerable Creel Building (on the exit corner of Campbellsville Street and the Square). With Mr. Reed Logan as manager, the store had opened in the summer of 1929 in a just-completed business house erected by Mrs. Elma Page Frazer."
