OCC: Loading the trailer

All of the Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts that are collected in Adair, Green, and Casey County's are loaded onto the trailer at the Wheet Fellowship Hall. From here the boxes will be taken to Charlotte North Carolina processing center. Pictured are Britt Jackson, Mike Talley, and Aaron LaBarge.

OCC: Columbia Baptist Church

National collection week for Operation Christmas Child is November 16-23. OCC is a year-round project at Columbia Baptist Church. Columbia Baptist Church packed 540 or more boxes this year. Pictured are family Pastor Aaron LaBarge, Mike Talley, Britt Jackson, and Codell Phipps. The CBC boxes are packed and ready to be delivered to the Wheet Fellowship Hall at the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene located at 1200 Jamestown Street.

Veteran Ron DeVore honored with special quilt

Candy Shirley from the Piecemaker's Quilt Guild, at left, presented Korean War veteran Ron DeVore a special handmade quilt to honor his service on Veterans Day November 11, 2020. With them at right is Lt. Col. Bill Lytle, Retired US Air Force, Commander of the Metcalfe County, KY VFW. Also accompanying Ron for the special honor was his son Charles DeVore. The quilt "thank you" note said it was pieced by Charlotte Atkins and quilted by Colleen Ewing from the Piecemaker's Quilt Guild,

Giving help to others

J.O.Y. Ministries of Adair County received a $25,000 donation from Seeds of Hope, LLC, in Russell County last week. Joy Fletcher, Seeds of Hope treasurer, is at left beside Faith Anderson, administrator of the Crisis Resource Center, and at right is Maggie Coleman, J.O.Y. treasurer. The Seeds of Hope board members are Moochie Hart, Dr. John Kilgallin, Kim Arehart and Joy Fletcher.

An antiparasitic in candy form, from the old drugstore in Creelsboro. The label reads:
Compound Santonin - Worm Candy: A Pleasant, Safe and Effectual Worm Expeller.

Directions: Children, 10 to 15 years old, 2 to 4 lozenges night and mornings 1 to 4 years old, 1 to 2 lozenges in the morning on an empty stomach, Repeat the dose daily until the proper effect is produced.

Each Lozenge Contains: Santonin, 1-2 gr. Mercurous chloride, mild, 1-2 gr. Podophyllum resin, 1-20 grain.
