Kentucky Color: Celestial Lights
2021-02-21 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Billy Joe Fudge. By Billy Joe Fudge
Long, crystal clear icicles, an almost black cloudless night, the perfect viewing angle and the waxing gibbous Moon above, provided what appeared to be a celestial light show for the ages last night! Although my Great Wooded South University Doctorate is in the Natural Sciences, I can't be 100% sure if this is refracted "Moonshine". Sorry, I could not pass up the opportunity to interject a reference to one of our very early, local, iconic, value-added, agricultural products! As usual with many aspects of American culture, we here in the Great Wooded South were ahead of the curve concerning the "value-added" phenomenon. I'm also proud to say that many of my enterprising, entrepreneurial ancestors were involved in this industry.

View from the Bailey home is a special place
2021-02-21 - the Ella community of Adair County, KY - Photo by Danny Bailey. Jennifer Bailey writes, "When Daddy sends you 'Home' he sends this picture - the view from his house looking out to the picturesque New Hope Separate Baptist Church on Hwy 206. It was taken at 7am on a snowy February 2, 2021. My brother, Kai Edwin Bailey, is buried in the graveyard to the left that you can’t see. He passed away at Shepherd School Jan 13, 1997. The house that built us, means a lot to us."

Birds of Kentucky: Very High GPS
2021-02-20 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. A frozen Lake Shelby had all of the area geese congregating in the same spot this week near the single thawed pool, resulting in much higher than average GPS (Goose Per Square Foot) numbers.
