When minivans lose their cool

A little known option on the 2015 Chrysler Town & Country is the Series 1A-1998 Model B-9 Class Rodney YM-3 General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Control unit, which, according to documentation, has a variety of sensors that detect numerous phenomena and dangers.

One of the known problems with this high tech gadgetry is a tendency to panic in the face of difficult situations.

A closer look at the wagon in Sam Judd's Pioneer Travelers. A photo of this ensemble appeared in the Courier-Journal in 1926. At that time, the wagon featured a cover, partially raised to reveal a young woman in the interior, possibly holding an infant, and the man carrying a long rifle, his hand holding the butt end with the barrel over his shoulder.

Sam Judd: Pioneer Travelers

A photo of this ensemble appeared in the Courier-Journal in 1926. At that time, the wagon featured a cover, partially raised to reveal a young woman in the interior, possibly holding an infant, and the man carrying a long rifle, his hand holding the butt end with the barrel over his shoulder. The cutline for the 1926 photograph noted "Only a pocket knife was used" to craft the set. In the present photo, the family dog can be glimpsed on the far side of the wagon.

The inscription on the back tells the story: "Picture of Sam & Rob Judd fishing in Caney Fork / Painted by Sam Judd 1890, Cane Valley, Ky." In 1890, Sam was about 12 years old; his brother Robert E. Lee -- Rob -- was two years younger.
