School is in - at the kitchen table

2021-03-23 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Tuesday morning report - We are in Hailey's Shelbyville, KY Southside Elementary third grade class at her grandmother's kitchen table in Columbia. Teacher Atkins connected the Zoom meeting, took one look at the background, and said, "Hailey, where in the world are you this morning?" It went well with the only confusion being the time change - her first class began at 7:30amET/6:30amCT - hard for a little one to keep up with. Hard for a grandmother to keep up with, too!

And then there were three

2021-03-22 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
A snack served out in the sun was meant for residents Smokey Blue, at right, and Mama Cat, center. However, looking back as I headed into the house, I saw there was a guest cat, timid and waiting for possible leftovers. The guest cat spotted me trying to take more food out and ran - it was evident by its bony small body that food is needed. Hope it comes again.
