Traveling along in the Omnicoot
 2025-02-20 - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Take a look at the cars in this 1970s photo developed from old negatives at the Genealogy Center. Ed Waggener and son Tom are pictured unpacking the small light blue Dodge Omni that the boys had named the "Omnicoot" - they'll have to tell the story of why they felt it should be named that. I'm sure it was for good cause. It was in that car on the way home from Florida, I believe, that Tom and Pen developed ideas around a current events show they'd title Walter Kronphart and the Evening Pews. -- LW

Deputy Joshua C. Phipps, 38, Columbia, KY (1986-2024)
 2025-02-20 - Columbia, KY - Photo courtesy Phipps family. Russell County Deputy Sheriff Joshua Phipps has been chosen for inclusion to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC in May 2025. Deputy Phipps' end of watch was September 16, 2024, at 5:27pm. He was killed in the line of duty, assisting Kentucky State Troopers in the apprehension of a repeat felon.
The NLEOMF's 37th Annual Candlelight Vigil will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2025, on the National Mall to memorialize those who sacrificed all for their communities.

Holland Jane Phelps is a smart and talented dog. With no training, she began posing in this way and has continued it as she enjoys the resulting praise and happiness.
