Martin's Peterbilt to locate on Hwy. 55 N

The Columbia-Adair County Economic Development Authority (EDA) announces that Martin's Peterbilt will be expanding their operations to Adair County. Since 1965, Martin's promise is to always treat the customer the way they want to be treated, and their stated goal is, "to keep your trucks moving through outstanding parts availability and unmatched service, all while glorifying Jesus Christ and building relationships".

Birds of Kentucky: Cedar Waxwing

All About Birds says of them, "A treat to find in your binocular viewfield, the Cedar Waxwing is a silky, shiny collection of brown, gray, and lemon-yellow, accented with a subdued crest, rakish black mask, and brilliant-red wax droplets on the wing feathers."

Epicurean Kentuckian: Potato and Cheese Pierogies

An order of pierogies served with kraut and sour cream from Tony Packo's Cafe in Toledo, OH. Tony Packo's Cafe gained world-wide fame when M*A*S*H character Maxwell Klinger, who was portrayed by Toledo native Jamie Farr, mentioned the restaurant as his favorite eatery.

In the background is their signature Chicken Paprikas served over Hungarian dumplings, and a Hungarian Dog with mustard, onions, and "hot dog sauce."

Sara Rey Marcum's life remembered on tour

Historian Dave Thomas shared the life of Sara Rey Marcum at the Friday evening Lanterns and Tombstones tour in the Columbia Cemetery. She was an avid traveler who frequently led tour groups to Europe and had a notable career in government and writing. Her enthusiasm set the tone for an evening of enlightening stories and historical revelations.

Walking among ancient stones and flowers

The Yucca plant was in full bloom for the third walk of this season through the historic Columbia Cemetery Friday, June 7, 2024. The tour concluded by marking the anniversary of the Gradyville Flood which happened over a hundred years ago on June 7, 1907. This poignant moment commemorated the tragic event, highlighting the resilience and strength of the Columbia community in the face of adversity.
