Sunday afternoon Kayaking on Green River Lake

By Mitzi Bault

From the Put In at the Snake Creek ramp in Adair County, we enjoyed Green River Lake Sunday afternoon, September 30, 2018.

Water was high from recent heavy rains but the surface was smooth. We only met one boat. Higher water meant we could boat in more places than we can when it's lower.

One small sand bar was under water and was covered with weeds that left us with plenty of seeds and grass all over us and the boats after we paddled through it. We experienced plenty of sneezing. And laughter.

Beth Ann Cravens, on her second Kayaking venture with Cousin Mitzi Bault guiding, said after one trip through high grasses and weeds, "Where in the world are we??" She was just fine, though, as she found the exit back to open water.

Kayakers paddling on Green River Lake

2018-10-01 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Mitzi Bault.
We have some of the most beautiful waterways in the world in Adair County. Sunday afternoon I took my cousin Beth Ann Cravens out on Green River Lake and we had a wonderful Kayaking adventure. Here she exits after having paddled her way through the little jungle of weeds on a sand bar that is usually above water, but not this day after heavy rains had brought the water level higher. - Mitzi Bault
