Mrs. Godsey's 4th Grade Science Class Creates Mechanimals

By Alice Curry
Technology Teacher & STC, Adair County Elementary School

After listening to the book Mechanimals, students created a model of animal using scrap materials. Their animal had to include at least some metal, and had to be able to meet its basic survival needs (food, shelter, oxygen, shelter.) This was the culminating assessment for our study of organism structure/function.

They had a week to work on it at home, and one day to work at school. They presented their topics on Thursday, September 20. "I was BLOWN AWAY by their amazing responses," said Mrs. Godsey.
