Claristine Richard Sparks, Adair County, KY (1929-2018)

She was a member of Gradyville Baptist Church and a former factory worker at Fruit of the Loom, Edmonton Manufacturing and Osh Kosh B'Gosh. She was the matriarch of a highly regarded Adair County, KY family. She was the daughter of the late Elbert & Arletha Sneed Richard, and the widow of William Arbie Sparks. She leaves five direct living descendants.

Claristine Sparks, 88, formerly of the Gradyville community, died Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:38pmCT at Signature Healthcare at Summit Manor, Columbia, KY.

Funeral service will be at 11amCT, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Jim Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Sparks Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Monday, August 6, 2018.

She was born December 3, 1929, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Elbert & Arletha Sneed Richard. She died Saturday, August 4, 2018, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 88 years, eight months, and one day.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Arbie Sparks on April 19, 2009; and a son; Larry Russell Sparks in infancy.

She was a member of Gradyville Baptist Church and a former factory worker at Fruit of the Loom, Edmonton Manufacturing and Osh Kosh B'Gosh.

Survivors include:
  • One son - Jeffery and his wife Phyllis Sparks of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter - Carolyn Sue Sparks of Columbia, KY

  • Two grandchildren - Jason and his wife Leslie Sparks and Tabatha Sparks

  • One great-grandson - Jayden Sparks

  • One brother - Elwood Richard of Louisville, KY

  • One sister - Zelma Sneed of Columbia, KY

  • Several other relatives and friends
