Gerald Reliford: 'I'll see you later, Bro. Joe & Bro. Lewis' The Friday morning breakfast changed members over its 20 years, but three stayed fast throughout, Bro. Joe, Bro. Lewis, and Bro. Gerald. . . the last had believed he would be the first. 'I have a real sense of loss, but one day I will join them again,' he writes. Comments re article 98628: Remembering Bro Haynes The definition of a gentleman By Gerald Reliford Bro. Lewis Haynes and I first met when I was a freshman at ACHS in 1961. He was my Civics teacher and he was "Mr. Haynes" to us. Fifty seven years later we had a bond as ministers in Adair County and to me he is Brother Lewis. For somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 years, Bro. Lewis, Bro. Joe Payne, and I met almost every Friday morning to share breakfast, discuss pastoral issues, and pray together. Several other ministers through the years would join us. Then they would move on to new churches elsewhere, but Lewis, Joe, and I would continue on here in the county. On February 4, 2016, I died and was gone thirty minutes before I came back. One week later, Bro. Joe Payne went to be with the Lord. Now Bro. Lewis has gone to be with the Lord. He was a fine man and great friend. I have a real sense of loss, but one day I will join them again. I really believed I would be the first. I'll see you later, Bro. Joe and Bro. Lewis. -Gerald Reliford See related
