Carl W. Loy, 91 Taylor County, KY (1925-2018)

August 13, 1926 ~ May 26, 2018 (Age 91)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mannsville United Methodist Church. Mr. Loy retired from the General Electric plant in Louisville after 30+ years of service. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a veteran of the United States Air Force, a farmer, and a talented bluegrass musician, and had won the Best Banjo Picker at the Sorghum Festival in Springfield. He was the patriarch of a respected family, the son of the late Henry C. & Estill (Gribbins) Loy. His wife of nearly 67 years, Mrs. Helen Marie Mings Loy, survives. He leaves two direct living descendants.

Mr. Carl W. Loy, 91, of Campbellsville, KY departed this life on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Ephraim McDowell Hospital, Danville, KY.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Loy on Tuesday, May 28, 2018 at 10amCT/11amET, in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. John Hall will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Callahan Cemetery at Feathersburg in Adair County, at 4571 Speck Ridge Road, Campbellsville, KY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 28, from 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET.

Mr. Carl W. Loy, was born on August 13, 1926 in Taylor County, KY. He was the son of the late Henry C. & Estill (Gribbins) Loy. He departed this life on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Danville, Boyle County, KY, at the age of 91 years, 9 months.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mannsville United Methodist Church. Mr. Loy retired from the General Electric plant in Louisville after 30+ years of service. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a veteran of the United States Air Force, a farmer, and a talented bluegrass musician, and had won the Best Banjo Picker at the Sorghum Festival in Springfield.

He leaves to cherish his memory:

  • His wife of nearly 67 years: Mrs. Helen Marie (Mings) Loy

  • One daughter: Sheila Hollon and husband David of Campbellsville, KY

  • One sister: Mildred Cooley of Louisville, KY

  • One grandson: Anthony Hollon and companion Tonya Mann of Campbellsville, KY

  • And a host of other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Loy and Harold Loy.
