Robert Cumming: When was life being pretty good - and cheap on Lake Cumberland Robert Cumming writes: I can remember life being pretty good (and cheap) on the lake, when it wasn't so crowded, while a kid back in the old! In 1961 my parents bought an acre of lakefront land overlooking Greasy Creek from the Corps of Engineers for only $500! According to the Quit Claim deed issued by the Dept. of the Army, it was from a tract sold by Thenora Humble to the US Govt. when the lake was created in 1951. The Humble farmhouse is the present location of Wolf Creek Dam. --Robert CummingComments re photo 78820 Scenic Russell County New times seem better than old on this day This story was posted on 2018-05-22 00:55:20
