There are no words to describe the atmosphere throughout the event. It was truly family oriented. Our Host Families go above and beyond expectations and truly give the students a family unit away from home.

On the evening of May 1, 2018,, International Student Programs honored their students and their host families at the Host Family Appreciation Dinner. This was a wonderful time for host families and international students to gather one last time before saying goodbye for the summer or for longer.

During this time of fellowship, Host Families and their students were able to converse over a delicious meal at the Cranmer Dining Center and enjoy entertainment provided by Korean exchange students and members of the United Nations Club on campus. They performed a traditional fan dance, followed by an energetic K-Pop (Korean Pop) dance.

There are no words to describe the atmosphere throughout the event. It was truly family oriented. Our Host Families go above and beyond expectations and truly give the students a family unit away from home. They have traveled, shared holidays and numerous stories, and simply loved and invested in each other. Seeing the families laugh and create memories for the last time was heart warming. As Sara Barnes, Russell Springs, KY, stated: "We'll sure miss them next year! Family is family no matter how far!" Sara and her family: parents Bonnie & Lane and her brother Jonathan Barnes, have been hosting international students for many years.

As the year comes to a close, we reflect on the fun times, memories made, and the relationships built over the last year. We are excited to announce that International Student Programs is growing! We have an influx of students coming in the fall. We are looking for more families who would like to experience the world without leaving the comfort of Columbia, Kentucky. If you are interested in making an impact, sharing your story, and learning more about other countries, contact easthams@lindsey.edu for more information on becoming a Host Family.
