LWC's Blinkhorn finishes runner-up at MSC Championship

Bowling Green, KY - (Thu 26 Apr 2018) Callum Blinkhorn finished runner-up as the Lindsey Wilson men's golf team took third at the Mid-South Conference Championship Tournament held at Bowling Green Country Club.

Lindsey Wilson finished with a total score of 895 (304-300-291) and were four shots behind runner-up Cumberlands (KY). Cumberland (TN) won the team title with a three-day total of 883.


Immediately following the conclusion of the final round, the all-conference teams were announced. The all-conference teams were decided based on the three conference tournaments, the Fall, Spring, and MSC Championship Tournaments. The lowest five rounds of the seven were used to determine the teams.

Blinkhorn and Rasmus Broholt Lind made the First Team All-MSC, while Jeremiah Hayes earned a spot on the second team. Blinkhorn was also named the MSC Freshman of the Year.

Blinkhorn shot a three-day total 207 (67-73-67) to finish in second place. He finished 9-under par and was second best in par-5 scoring at 7-under.

Blinkhorn began the day on the back nine with four birdies on his first five holes before a bogey dropped him to 3-under in the round. He then ended his first nine holes with two consecutive pars. Blinkhorn got back to 4-under with a birdie on his hole two. A double bogey on the fourth hole dropped him to 2-under. Blinkhorn then birdied three of his last five holes to get to 5-under in the round. Blinkhorn recorded the second most birdies in the tournament with 17.

Lind finished in fifth place after his three-day total 220 (75-74-71). He recorded a double bogey on the 11th hole, birdied at 14 and closed the back with four consecutive pars to be at 1-over. Lind had one bogey on the front nine and finished his round with birdies on three of the last five holes. Lind was tied for the most pars at the tournament with 37.

Hayes shot a three-day 232 (77-75-80) to finish tied for 21st. He found just one birdie in his final round, it coming on the par-3 third and had eight bogeys. Hayes shot 6-over on the back nine and 2-over on the front.

Steven McGowan finished tied for 26th with a total of 237, Chance Presley competing as an individual finished 30th and Cody Mingus tied for 35th.

Ben Kendrick from Cumberlands won the individual title with a 14-under 202 (68-68-66). Kendrick was also named MSC Golfer of the Year.
