LWC Intercultural Group Tours Bardstown Civil War Museum In addition to tours, the Lindsey Wilson College Intercultural Communication Tour, the group completed their look at American culture in past eras, with lunch at Bardstown's Old Talbott Inn, an establishment dating from 1779 that has hosted such notables as George Rogers Clark, Daniel Boone and Abraham Lincoln. Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Ernest Hemingway (aka Dr. Dan Koger, LWC) Eighteen intercultural communication and international students at Lindsey Wilson College got a close look at American culture, including the role of women in American wars, during a visit Wednesday to the Civil War Museum complex in Bardstown. Focused on the Western Theatre of operations in the Civil War, the Bardstown museum features an extensive collection of uniforms, weapons, maps and other artifacts of America's deadliest military conflict. The Women's Museum section chronicles the essential role of women in the Civil War, not only as nurses, but also as doctors, spies, and combat soldiers. Other sections of the Women's Museum show how women contributed to victory in World War I and II, in the military and as workers in defense plants, making airplanes, tanks, cannons and other war essentials. "The museum complex provided our students, American and international, with concrete evidence of the clash of cultures and the changes in gender perceptions during the Civil War and in later conflicts,' said Dr. Dan Koger, Associate Professor of Communication at LWC and teacher of the intercultural communication course. To complete their look at American culture in past eras, the students had lunch at Bardstown's Old Talbott Inn, an establishment dating from 1779 that has hosted such notables as George Rogers Clark, Daniel Boone and Abraham Lincoln.
