A little bit of home. Meet Bandit, puppy-in-residence at LWC For one wonderful day, a six month old German Shepherd spends beautiful springlike day on campus as puppy-in-residence, helping students, international and domestic through a bit of separation anxiety for the pets they left behind. Click on headline for story with photos By Sabine Eastham Director of International Student Programs (ISP) at LWC Columbia, KY- Being away from home - going on a journey - the experience of a lifetime - all sounds great. What is not often mentioned are the aches that come with the distance -being away from home and family - from everything you love. Often, students tell me about the animals they left in their far way homes. They tear up with memories or share that their puppy died while they are away from home. It makes no difference if you are a domestic or an international student. Being a Blue Raider means being part of a close knit community, where "everybody knows your name" to quote from the popular TV show "Cheers"- where you can walk from one end to the campus to the other being greeted by fellow students, staff and professors alike. Yesterday, on this wonderful warm and sunny day it seemed to be a perfect opportunity to bring a little bit of home to our students: meet Bandit, a 9 week old German Shepherd, that came and spent the day on campus, much to the delight of everyone!
