Pinewood Shopping Center announces two more businesses Dollar Tree signs letter of intent to build an 8,500 s.f. building. Site work on the Magic Market, a Marathon branded convenience store, will begin within few days. Mike Neal and Mike Stephens announce that the original center is now 100% filled. "And you haven't seen anything yet," Mike Neal said, as development in 'New Columbia,' picks up, and optimism about Columbia's future in retail, commerce, hospitality, and health care abounds. Judge Stephens announces possibility of a 54-bed specialty hospital in Columbia's re-emergence as a health care center. But the really big news at the center, they say, is 3trees church, business office, and school. Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Ed Waggener Mike Neal and Mike Stephens of Pinewood Shopping Center announced two more confirmations for the Pinewood Shopping Center, and with the announcements a tip from Mike Neal, "You haven't seen anything yet." Today's announcement includes: 1) DOLLAR TREE has signed a letter of intent for an 8,500 s.f.store , with a target date for an opening date in January 2019. The building will be a stand-alone structure, designed in the theme style created for Pinewood by Columbia's South Central Design.Mr. Neal also announced that the original buildings planned are now 100% committed. He said that a bank, not previously represented directly in Columbia, will fill the last remaining space in the original structures. Mr. Neal said this bank is another area banking firm which committed to space in the center, in addition to the First & Farmer's National Bank, which has erected a sign on the site of a future facility - details yet to be announced. The newest facility will be located next to Satellite Solutions, in the original buildings, both organizations, he said will be announcing detailed plans later. Church, school, and 3-trees offices biggest, anchor projects Mike Stephens said this morning that the opening of the large 3trees Columbia location in the center is scheduled for Sunday, March 18, 2018. When it is open, the fast growing organizations will be holding services in three locations: Russell Springs, KY; Campbellsville, KY, and the new Columbia church. In addition, the church will operate a school in the center. Details on that will come later, from 3trees pastor and leader of the business side of the organization Pastor Eric Gilbert, Judge Stephens said. And, the organization's business office, already active in the one-time residence of Judge Richard Lee Walker & his wife, Marsha Brock Walker, has site work by Pyles Excavation for a large parking lot underway. Mr. Neal said that the Pyles Company has been a major reason why the project is moving so fast now. "They are the most experienced, most capable company we could find. And they are right here. Danny - Danny Pyles - is the best there is." He said that the firm has also been blessed to have the experience and the acknowledged quality standard setting H & H Construction Company of Columbia, and its CEO, Terry Harvey for many of its projects, including the interior of the 3trees church and the associated school. "Nobody is as attentive to detail, or does more impressive work, than Terry Harvey." he said. Black Stallion Steak House to open in March The Black Stallion Steak House will open by the end of March, Mr. Neal said. Workmen are building the patio today. And he revealed a bit more about the size of the restaurant. It will seat 238, and is set up to accommodate many special occasion meeting areas. "Think about," he said. "Many groups will stay at the Sleep Inn, across the road. We'll be able to shuttle them a short distance across the road for such functions as wedding rehearsal dinners, for family reunions and school reunion dinners, for graduation events at the Lindsey Wilson and other area colleges." He noted that Adair County has been widely known for it's special wedding facilities and that Black Stallion can only help. Health Care facilities CJE Mike Stephens said that he feels good about the possibility of a 54-bed hospital, specializing in treatment of addiction, which he anticipates can become a reality, "soon" he said. Judge Stephens thinks that even with setbacks because of the bankruptcy and sale of the old Westlake organization, the the long term outlook for healthcare development, is now better than ever. He's been particularly supportive of the work led by Dr. Eric Loy, whose clinic in Pinewood is already open. Judge Stephens said that very soon, the health care facility, a twin building to the Cumberland Family Medical Center, will open. The facility, he said, will be an additional location for Taylor Regional Hospital, and will offer specialized treatment such as dialysis. Judge Stephens would give only limited details, but he did say that he's working to land the 54-bed hospital, dedicated to treating addictions. And Mike Neal says after today's announcement, "We've just begun. You haven't seen anything yet!" - revealing an unbounded optimism about Adair County's future.
