KSP Electronic Crime Branch arrests Frankfort man

Arrest results from execution of search warrant at residence in Franklin County. Charges include one count of possession/viewing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor and seven counts of distribution/viewing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.
Note: Charges/allegations are not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by law enforcement is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Frankfort, Ky. (December 15, 2017) - On December 14, 2017, the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Marcus Tate, 34, on charges related to possession and distribution/viewing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.



Tate was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect uploading files of child sexual exploitation online.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Frankfort on December 14, 2017. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP's forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Tate is currently charged with one count of possession/viewing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor and seven counts of distribution/viewing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor. Each charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison. He was lodged in the Franklin County Detention Center.
