Barbara Jean Green, 71, Adair County, KY (1946-2017)

She attended Free Union Separate Baptist Church and was secretary of Mid-State Pipeline. She was a member of a large, highly regarded East Adair County family. She was the daughter of the late Raymond & Emily McCorkle Powell. Her husband, L.C. Green, survives. She leaves 12 direct living descendants.

Barbara Jean Green age 71 years of the Free Union Community in Adair County, KY passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at 12:55amCT at the Russell County Hospital after an illness.

Funeral service will be at 1pmCT, Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Robert Knight & Bro. David Coffey the officiating clergy. Interment in Freedom Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Tuesday, November 28, 2017.



Barbara Jean Green, 71, Adair County, KY (1946-2017)


She was born on October 10, 1946, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Raymond & Emily McCorkle Powell. She died Monday, November 27, 2017, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 71 years, one month, and 17 days.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Zane Robyn Powell Vanarsdale. She is survived by her husband: L. C. Green of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Three sons: Chris (Cathy) Green of Ragley, LA; Troy (Cheryl) Green of Columbia, KY; and Timmy Green of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Beth (Jeremy) Sneed of Russell Springs, KY

  • Three brothers: Jerry (Bonnie) Powell and Larry (Deratha) Powell, both of Columbia, KY; and Ronnie (Lisa) Powell of Bardstown, KY

  • Two sisters: Doris Grant of Russell Springs, KY; and Dimple (J.W.) Stilts of Greensburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Caleb (Ashlie) Green, Jesse (Kayla) Green, Toby Green, Molly Green, Callie Montgomery, and Case Sneed

  • Two great grandchildren: Greylon Green & Roby Green

  • Special friends: The Brackens family, the Hadley family & the Bunco Ladies

  • Several nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives & friends
Barbara attended the Free Union Separate Baptist Church & was secretary for Mid-State Pipeline.
