What if you earn $20 a month but food costs stay the same?

Where will you be giving help on this Thanksgiving weekend? As we eat bountifully and then shop until we drop, will there be any extra to help to those in need?

By Linda Waggener

If your take-home income was $20 a month, and still groceries cost the same as they do here now, what would your Thanksgiving holiday be like? $20 is exactly what the minimum wage income is per month in Venezuela.

In the past year Venezuelans who can't afford food have lost an average of 19 pounds each -- in that same time Americans have gained a few pounds. This story is about an opportunity to help hungry families.

It comes from a Lindsey Wilson College student who will be going back to her country and hopes to take aid to those who are in greatest need, especially starving children.

The student, Gabriella Pedroza, started a small foundation this semester and now has $230. She hopes to triple that amount in the time before she leaves for Christmas break on Dec. 4, 2017.

She says, "If you would like to donate even $1 to this cause, please contact me through email at gabriella.pedroza@lindsey.edu before December 4, 2017.

"Thank you so much beforehand, and God bless you." -- Gabby
