Shop Local will offer cash prizes at participating businesses One hundred dollar cash prizes will drawn during Shop Local campaign By Ellen Zornes, President, Columbia/Adair Chamber of Commerce A three-week program spotlights, November 22-December 13, 2017, features the importance of our local businesses and encourages the community to shop at Columbia-Adair County businesses. When we shop, eat and have fun locally we invest in our community by sustaining businesses owned by friends and neighbors who live, work, pay taxes and support Columbia and Adair County. By spending locally more of your money remains at home supporting the local economy, community job creation, infrastructure, libraries, recreation, schools and other amenities and services that make our community a great place to call home. Shopping local also supports our local heritage of unique and one-of-a-kind businesses and services that distinguishes our community's character. Local businesses are the backbone of our economy! On a dollar-for-dollar basis, the local economic impact of independently owned businesses is significantly greater than that of national chains. Three times as much money stays in the local economy when you buy goods and services from locally owned businesses. Shop often to increase your chances of winning one of five $100 cash prizes, donated by local sponsors. The $100 cash prizes donated by Bank of Columbia, Community Trust Bank, United Citizens Bank, First & Farmers National Bank, and Duo County Telecom. "Shop Local" decals are displayed in the window of participating Chamber of Commerce businesses. This story was posted on 2017-11-12 05:18:28
