Barbara (Burton) Pendleton, 77, Adair Co., KY (1940-2017)

She was a cook for more than 30 years at East Side Elementary in Edinburgh, IN, retiring in 2014. She was also employed at Edinburgh DQ for several years and baby sat for many years. She attended Jollity United Methodist Church and was a life time member of the Double Y Saddle Club. She was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of Edinburgh, IN, at the time of her death. She was a member of a large, respected family, the daughter of the late Wesley & Bert Dile Burton. And the widow Norman Floyde Pendleton. She leaves six direct living descendants.

Barbara (Burton) Pendleton, 77, of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12pmNoonCT/1pmET, on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 by Reverends Lewis Burton and James Hoppus at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church, 623 S Eisenhower Dr, Edinburgh, IN in Edinburgh. Visitation will be 3pm-7pmCT/4pm-8pmCT, on Monday, November 6, at the church and Tuesday from 10amCT/11amET, until time of service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, between S. Eisenhower DR and US 31 near their intersection, Edinburgh, IN.



Barbara (Burton) Pendleton, 77, Adair Co., KY (1940-2017)


She was born January 22, 1940 in Columbia, Adair County, KY. Her parents were Wesley & Bert (Dile) Burton. She died Friday, November 3, 2017, in Edinburgh, Indiana, at the age of 77 years, nine months, and 14 days.

She married the late Norman Floyde Pendleton on August 6, 1955, in Columbia, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Norman Floyde Pendleton; five sisters, Beulah Sinclair, Fay Cowan, Mildred Burton, Exuria Goodin, and Millie Burton; and four brothers, Clayton, Fairley, Lester, and Van Burton.

Barbara is survived by:
  • Her children, Phyllis (Jackie) Smith, Anita (Bryon) Eldridge, and Floyde (Sandy) Pendleton, all of Edinburgh, IN

  • Three grandchildren: Cassie (Isaiah) Sutt, Kyle and Zachary Pendleton, all of Edinburgh, IN

  • A brother: Buford (Alene) Burton of Edinburgh, IN

  • And several nieces and nephews
