LW Women's Swimming ranked No. 8 in first NAIA Poll

COLUMBIA, KY - (Thu 26 Oct 2017) The Lindsey Wilson women's swim program received a No. 8 ranking in the first NAIA Men's Swim and Dive Coaches' Top 10 Poll of the 2017-18 season, officials from the national office announced on Thursday.

The Blue Raiders collected 16 total voting points in the poll from the committee. A committee will conduct the Top 10 rating five times during the season. The committee consists of five current NAIA Swimming and Diving Coaches and use the most current "top times" as the primary source of ranking.



Defending national champion Olivet Nazarene (IL) and national runner-up SCAD Savannah (GA) are tied atop the poll with 46 voting points and two first-place votes each. Keiser (FL) is No. 3 with 41 points and the final first-place vote.

The NAIA also released the first Top Times Report of the 2017-18 season on Tuesday. Lindsey Wilson swimmers garnered 14 individual mentions and were mentioned in all five relay events.

Laura Stephenson appeared five times on the report with her time in the 200-yard butterfly being the second-fastest this season. Alexis Kessler is mentioned three times wither her times in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly all coming in at sixth or better.

Jessica Macdonald has recorded three times this year that rank sixth or better. Bailey Seitz and Caitlin Freeny also appear on the report in the 50-yard freestyle.

In the relay events, Lindsey Wilson holds the sixth-fastest time or better in four of the five races, highlighted by the third-fastest time in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
