News from Lindsey Wilson College

The international students at Lindsey Wilson College have received a Jackaline Baldwin Dunlap Horizon Grant of $872 to fund a visit by 50 students to the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville on October 31, 2017.

Students on the field trip will be from the International Student Program, the Intercultural Communication Course and the English as a Second Language Course.

"The Ali Center is devoted to broadening visitor understanding of American culture, values and recent American history," said Sabine Eastham, director of the International Student Program. "It has numerous exhibits that provide deep and nuanced insights into American culture and history in the late 20 th and early 21st centuries, as experienced by a world-renowned and highly respected American, the champion boxer and social activist, Muhammad Ali, a native of Louisville, KY."

The purpose of the Horizons Program is to provide incentives and financial support for classes, academic organizations, and individual students at LWC to develop a broader world view through study-related field work and travel. For lunch, students on the trip will visit at the Queen of Sheba restaurant, an authentic Ethiopian restaurant in Louisville, where staff members will explain the cultural significance of each of the dishes being shared at the tables.
