Sherry Grant McGrath, 55, Adair Co., KY native (1962-2017)

She was a native of Columbia, KY. She was a member of a highly respected Adair County family, the daughter of Pat Radford Grant, who survives, and the late Joe Grant. Her husband, of 30 years, Steve McGrath, survives. She leaves two direct living descendants. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Kentucky, Sherry worked passionately as a labor and delivery nurse for over 30 years, most recently as the Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery at Baptist Health Louisville. Her compassion, selfless love, and devotion were a constant light for those who knew her. Sherry was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. She lives on in the many people whose lives she influenced for better, and the countless babies born under her care.

Sherry Grant McGrath, 55, of Louisville, KY, formerly Columbia, KY passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Baptist Health Louisville with family and friends by her side.

The determination and optimism she held throughout her life marked her struggle with cancer.She left this world loving, and loved, by many. Funeral Services will be held at 10amCT/11amET, Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, East Louisville, KY, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY. Visitation will be 1pm-8pmCT/2pm-9pmET, Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the funeral home.

She was born February 22, 1962 in Columbia, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of Pat & the late Joe Grant. She died Friday, September 29, 2017, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 55 years, seven months, and seven days.

In addition to her mother Pat Radford Grant, of Columbia, KY, she is survived by the following:
  • Her loving husband of 30 years: Steve McGrath

  • Her two children: Brett and Kayla McGrath

  • Two sisters: Julie Cowan (Brian) and Beth Ellison (Michael "Bo") of Columbia, KY

  • Five nieces and nephews: Derek, Jake, Kylie, Haley and Emma
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Kentucky, Sherry worked passionately as a labor and delivery nurse for over 30 years, most recently as the Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery at Baptist Health Louisville.
