He was a retired general foreman for L.E. Myers. He was a native of Gilpin, Casey County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the widower of Betty Jo Chumbley Morgan. He was the patriarch of a large, respected family. He leaves 25 direct living descendants.

Donald Ray Morgan, age 75, of Liberty, KY passed away on Thursday July 27, 2017 at the Casey County Hospital, Liberty.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pmCT/2pmET, Sunday July 30, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Johnny Maupin and Bro. Kevin Pittman officiating. Burial will be in the Willow Springs Cemetery. Visitation was held 5pmCT/6pmET till 8pmCT/9pmET, Saturday July 29, 2017 and after 8amCT/9amET, Sunday July 30, 2017 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.



Donald Ray Morgan, Casey Co., KY (1941-2017)


He was born in Gilpin, KY on September 26, 1941, a son of Mabel Hoskins Morgan of Middleburg, KY, and the late Lonzo Junior Morgan. He died Thursday, July 27, 2017, in Liberty, Casey County, KY, at the age of 75 years, 10 months, and one day.

He was the widower of Betty Jo Chumbley Morgan and was a retired general foreman for L.E. Myers.

Survivors include:
  • Three sons: Jeff Morgan of Kearneysville, WV; Dean Morgan of Middleburg, KY; and Ryan Durham of Liberty, KY

  • Two daughters: Tonya Morgan of Liberty, KY; and Misty Bastin of Dunnville, KY

  • Ten grandchildren

  • Nine great grandchildren

  • One great great grandchild

  • Four brothers: Ronald Morgan and Garnett Morgan both of Liberty, KY; Arnold Dee Morgan and David Morgan both of Middleburg, KY

  • Three sisters: Patty Watson of Stanford, KY; Sue Chadwell of Franklin, IN; and Regina Terry of Hustonville, KY
Preceding him in death besides his father and spouse were two sisters: Phyllis Allen and Anna Lou Morgan.
